Start With the Clues in Your Cell
The detention escape in Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is Pay Close Detention, which begins with you locked in a cell after Eyes on the Prize in Chapter 4. Inspect the pillow and mirror hints first, then search beneath the bed for the lockpick.
Clues Before the Exact Inputs
The pillow's “low to high” clue points toward an ascending sequence of sounds. The mirror hints help you find the tool needed to work the cell lock. Later, your classmates provide materials for retrieving the Warden's Key, and UV light reveals the directions needed at the exit.
Open Your Cell and Get the UV Light
- Read the pillow's “low to high” instruction to establish the order you need for the lock's sounds.
- Inspect the mirror hints to direct your search toward the space beneath the bed.
- Collect the lockpick from under the bed so you can tackle the cell lock.
- Pick the cell lock by pressing the pins in the order 3, 5, 1, 2, 4. This follows the pitches from lowest to highest and lets you leave your cell.
- Rearrange the number tiles into 9542 to open the locker containing the UV light.
- Collect the UV light from the locker for the hidden-arrow puzzle at the end of the escape.
Retrieve the Warden's Key
- Get the gum from Gillian for the improvised fishing tool.
- Get the yarn from Reed to add the line needed for retrieving the key.
- Get the hook from Kira to complete the materials for the fishing tool.
- Combine the gum, yarn, and hook into the fishing tool needed to reach the Warden's Key.
- Fish out the Warden's Key with the assembled tool so you can release the other students.
- Use the Warden's Key to free the others and gain access to the clues in their cells.
Use the Cell Arrows to Open the Exit
- Inspect the freed students' cells with the UV light to reveal the directional arrows.
- Aim the lights around the exit door to match the UV-revealed arrows and open the way out.
- Leave through the opened exit to finish Pay Close Detention and continue the story.
Find the Missing Part of Your Escape
If the cell lock is holding you up, return to the pillow's instruction and listen for pitches rising from low to high. If you have reached the exit lights, check the arrows inside the other students' cells with the UV light. Match each light to its corresponding clue before checking the door again.
The opened exit is your immediate completion check. Finishing Pay Close Detention also unlocks the story achievement Pay Close Attention.
