Get Your Class Books From the Bookstore
Better Book It! requires Ciphers from B to A, Hiding and Seeking, and A Book of Lockpicks, all found in locked displays at the bookstore through the main building’s ground-floor courtyard. Solve each display’s puzzle, then purchase the book inside.
Collect Shopping Money Before You Buy
Your locker contains 3 Escape Bucks to help with the shopping. Find your portrait along the corridor’s portrait wall and use its student number to identify the matching locker. Solange’s locker key opens it.
Ciphers from B to A and Hiding and Seeking each cost 3 Escape Bucks, so the locker money covers a purchase. To fund the remaining shopping, complete student side tasks or collect loose Escape Bucks around campus. Check couch cushions and toilets while moving between your orientation destinations.
Unlock Ciphers from B to A
For a nudge, read the book’s title as an instruction about the alphabet. B to A points backward, which tells you how to change the lettering on the cover. Apply the same backward shift throughout the cover text before trying the display lock.
- Enter EUREKA on the display lock to unlock Ciphers from B to A; shifting FVSFLB back one letter produces that answer.
- Purchase Ciphers from B to A for 3 Escape Bucks to obtain the required cipher book.
Unlock Hiding and Seeking
The eyes on the cover provide the clue for this display. Match their colors to the shapes used by the lock. Keep each color paired with its matching shape when entering the solution.
- Set the display combination to green square, brown diamond, blue triangle, yellow circle, in that order, to unlock Hiding and Seeking.
- Purchase Hiding and Seeking for 3 Escape Bucks to obtain the required book.
Unlock A Book of Lockpicks
For this display, examine the author’s name. Its lettering hides the directional sequence needed by the lock. Read those directions in sequence before entering them.
- Enter up, left, up, down, left, up, down on the directional lock to unlock the display for A Book of Lockpicks.
- Purchase A Book of Lockpicks to obtain the remaining required class book.
Check Your Purchases and Continue Orientation
Your shopping is finished when you have purchased Ciphers from B to A, Hiding and Seeking, and A Book of Lockpicks. Opening a display gives you access to its book, so make sure you also complete the purchase. If you are still missing a required book, return to that book’s display and buy it.
After obtaining all three books, continue to the Headmaster’s Office on the third floor and answer the ringing phone. That interaction continues your orientation with Head to Head.
